Over the past year, auto industry experts have unanimously called 2022 a “black swan” that is feared by everyone and anyone in every economy in the world. This “graceful” term refers to an unlikely or difficult event with fatal consequences. But much more eloquent was the representative of AVTOVAZ. How in Togliatti they evaluate the results of their work and what plans they make for the near future tells the AvtoVzglyad portal.
The ForAuto conference in Moscow brought together many prominent representatives of the thinned, but still breathing domestic auto business: “Chinese”, “electric trains” and native AVTOVAZ represented by Vitaly Osipov, who is responsible for sales. And if the first literally radiated optimism – a sharp increase in demand, fantastic prospects in double-digit percentages, grandiose plans – then the LADA representative was extremely skeptical and clearly looked at the “new reality” without the notorious rose-colored glasses.
Yes, the indicators of the domestic auto giant reached an impressive 28% by the end of the year, and by the end of the last months – all 40%, but overall the situation was extremely difficult. The speaker’s words were very carefully chosen – there was an association with being on the cutting edge. And they passed! Yes, and they gave the most sincere comment of the whole conference to the black swan joke: “Not a black swan, but a whole stage of those same black swans.”
AVTOVAZ expects to exceed 400,000 cars sold this year and to take 40% of the market. In other words, the planned numbers for 2023 are 1,000,000 new cars. Remember and then check. Togliatti intends to achieve this result at the expense of Granta and the eternal and unsinkable Niva in all its iterations. Really, every Russian family should include this SUV in their car history – it’s our “everything” without any “buts”.
Production of LADA Vesta will begin in the spring, but such a popular car as the Largus will return only in the fall. Also do not forget about the new “acquisition” of LADA – the St. Petersburg plant, which once produced Nissan. Details are promised soon, but we won’t see the first cars until the summer.
From this follows a simple conclusion: firstly, AVTOVAZ will increase production of the most technologically simple models, which, as a result, should completely occupy the budget segment. Unless, of course, by the time the Togliatti conveyor reaches its design capacity, Russia will not be flooded with affordable machines by the Chinese. The first is on its way.
