Dealers sounded the alarm almost immediately after the special military operation began – when it became clear that only the Chinese from foreign automakers would remain in Russia. Retailers warned of an explosion in the price of brand new cars and their dire shortage “in just a few months”. But what do we see in the showrooms after almost a year?
Contrary to the pessimistic forecasts of official dealers and all those who are somehow connected with the automotive industry, new cars of foreign brands in car dealerships are not over yet. Korean, Japanese, French, German, Czech – really “rolled up” except maybe the “Americans”. But given the small sales of Chevrolet and Cadillac in previous years, it’s unlikely that anyone would grieve much.
And why mourn? Take the same expensive Cadillacs: those who could afford them before can now get a new Escalade or another model “for the husband”. How? Leaving an order for a “gray” car with an official dealer who has already “mastered” parallel imports. For their wealthy customers, car dealerships are ready to transport anything, anywhere – just pay money.
And if you don’t want to wait, you can take a look at the car dealerships of the Big German Three – there are plenty of cars there. And half with price tags, the other half without. From now on, prices will in many cases be discussed individually with each customer. Why? Because the streaming method, let’s call it that, does not imply such terrifying numbers. Let’s say 24 million rubles for a fresh Mercedes-Benz G-class. Cool? Not the limit!
If we talk about cars for “ordinary mortals” – that is, about the mass segment – then in general everything is the same with him. Once budget models will be sold at about the same prices as in September. Yes, and with the presence of a similar autumn situation – “there are still cars, but they will soon run out.” It seems that only the D-class suffered: it is not easy to find a Kia K5, Hyundai Sonata, Skoda Superb or Toyota Camry for a reasonable price.
And in more detail about what is happening now in the salons of official dealers (with specific prices and trim levels, a mini-review of the “Chinese” and “gray” cars), we tell in the latest issue of the podcast of the AvtoVzglyad portal , which you can listen to Here.
