Life-affirming news, which, perhaps, will become fundamental for the newly reformatted domestic car market, appeared in the information space: as the AvtoVzglyad portal expected, Iran would supply Russia not only “floriculture” products, but also civilian cars.
This topic was discussed and worked out for an extremely long time, but finally ended with a “happy ending”, which, as you can see, has not happened very often in recent years. The Iranian Saipa is therefore going to deliver a whole batch of new cars to Russia. No more and no less – 45,000 pieces. The figure does not seem impressive at first glance, but in 2022, only slightly more than 600,000 new cars were officially sold in Russia, so the declared 45 thousand is 7.5% (a market share that the Mitsubishi brand saw, for example, only in the sweetest to dream).
What will they bring? Initially it will be Saina and Shahin, as well as the Quik hatchback. “Shahin” is built on the Toyota Corolla E160 platform. Under the hood is a 1.5 liter atmospheric petrol engine with an output of 112 hp. s, which is mated to either a five-speed ‘mechanics’ or a six-speed automatic transmission.
The equipment is not rich, but everything you need is in the arsenal: ABS, ESP, “climate”, rear view camera, tire pressure monitor, heated mirrors, 7-inch multimedia system screen. The Quik hatchback is a compact car, a competitor to Kalina, equipped with a 1.5-liter 87-horsepower gasoline engine with a mechanical “five-speed” transmission or a CVT to choose from. Saina is a sedan based on the Quik.
All three models will find their consumer in the Russian market, there is no doubt about that. There is only one question left: the price. In Iran, prices for the Quick and Saina platform start at less than $ 10,000, and for Shaheen – from $ 12,000. Prices in the Russian Federation are not yet known, but approximate arithmetic can already be calculated.
The contract pays USD 450,000,000 for 45,000 cars, which is an average of $10,000 per car. Even if the final amount for the buyer is one and a half times higher – customs, logistics, dealer profits, and so on – then the Russians have the opportunity to buy a new car for a million rubles. It’s going to be a hit! They promise that the cars will go on sale this summer and the model certification process is currently underway.
