Russian car market: electric cars will help the rapid and final collapse
It seems that the need to emulate and simply copy Western trends is firmly rooted in the gene level of Russia’s elite and a significant portion of the country’s leadership. Therefore, the recipes for the development of the automotive industry issued by our Euro-American partners are binding even after being reclassified as enemies. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” found out where and why officials are literally dragging Russian drivers by force.

How many times have they told the world that electric vehicles, if not a dead end for the auto industry, then are certainly a very thorny one and leave ruts on smooth asphalt only in the distant future. That demonstrating the benefits of this mode of transport requires renewable energy sources that are at least comparable in performance to traditional ones; completely different technologies for making batteries; environmentally friendly methods of battery production and disposal.

Thick allusion to subtle circumstances

When all this is done, electric cars will become ‘clean and green’, as half-educated Greta Thunberg dreams. Meanwhile, all the jumping antics around them suggest a relatively fair way to take money from the populace – nothing more. The AvtoVzglyad portal wrote about this repeatedly and extensively.

Yet, like a hard lesson, the generals of our economy repeat the same mantra: “The development of electric transportation is a trend in the development of the global automotive industry. Electric transport is the future.” But here they do not concern themselves with the proofs of the above claims, offering us to extract them ourselves.

So, not without thick hints from those in power, Russian companies in 2023 will increase the production of electric vehicles 9 times – to produce 18,529 units. Note: Not 18,500 and not 18,600. Probably such a precise number should increase public confidence in their Napoleonic plans. Moreover, this number will grow to 36,096 cars in 2024. Such data was made public by First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov.

The difference between “produced” and “sold”

As you know, the newly born Moskvich has announced its intention to assemble 10,015 electric vehicles this year. Let’s pay attention again – these are plans, it is still written with a pitchfork on the water, but – 10,015 and not a penny less. Motorinvest, still unknown to anyone, will stamp 7,200 cars under the Evolute brand in the Lipetsk region.

Even on trifles. The company “Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus” – well, who has not heard of it! – 783 trucks based on the UAZ “Profi” will be patched up. And finally, Kaliningrad Avtotor is preparing an electric car of its own design, a trial batch of 200 units. Let’s pretend not to remember the recent statements of the management of this plant about the assembly of 50-60 thousand electric cars per year?

The only company in Russia that has real experience in the production of cars of its own design – by which, of course, he means AVTOVAZ – abruptly stopped the production of “Electrolargus”. It has no plans at all to mass-produce electric vehicles in this way by 2023. And why? Yes, because management perfectly understands the difference between “produced” and “sold”.

In 2022, this “environmentally friendly” nonsense was bought in Russia by 33% more than a year earlier. Do you know how much it was in total? Yes, 2998 pieces. Across the country, about 18,000 electric vehicles are now crawling from charging point to charging station – about the same number as we are going to sound in one current year.

Golden words

Buyers, hey! Where are you? Ivan Dzyurdzia, the founder of the company Elektrichka Rus, answered this question in detail for Kommersant: “The customer is like electricity, it seems that it comes out of nowhere.” Every word here is worth its weight in gold, isn’t it?

I cannot resist quoting Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Albert Karimov to RIA Novosti: “The Ministry of Industry and Commerce is already implementing a series of support measures that help to increase electric vehicle production and locate the necessary components, as and stimulate demand for electric vehicles.

Let me remind you that the current measures include preferential car loans and leasing programs, R&D subsidies, the mechanism for concluding special investment contracts with manufacturers, as well as the current programs of the Industrial Development Fund. In addition, we are in constant contact with market parties and focus on the needs of the industry to develop joint solutions to strengthen existing measures.”

Did you understand anything in this bureaucratic Newspeak? Not me. I only have one question: why do we need all this? Maybe it’s better to learn ESP with ABS?
