As a “little brother” in an alliance with Renault and Nissan, Mitsubishi intends to use its own developments as well as those of partners in the transition to the production of exclusively “green” cars – electric vehicles and “hybrids”. The AvtoVzglyad portal got acquainted with the policy document of the Japanese automaker.

On March 10, Mitsubishi released its mid-term development plan called “Challenge 2025”, which refers to the production of plug-in hybrids (PHEV), hybrids (HEV) and pure electric vehicles (BEV). For example, the Japanese car manufacturer wants to “electrify” 50% of its global sales by 2030. And by 2035, the drive, one way or another with electricity, will receive 100% of the models in the line. To achieve this goal, Mitsubishi plans to invest generously in green research and development, including $1.5 billion in battery production.

Under the new strategy, Mitsubishi will launch nine electrified models over the next five years: five “hybrids” and four “pure” electric cars. The family of the latter will be supplemented by a pickup truck and an SUV developed by Mitsubishi, as well as two more electric trains, which will be identical from a technical point of view to the machines created by Renault and Nissan.
