A BYDglobal manufacturer of new energy vehicles (NEV), will expand the use of a centralized computing platform. NVIDIA DRIVE Orin™ over a wider range of their NEVs. Expanded partnership with NVIDIA uses ORIN DRIVE to several models in its next generation of cars in the Dynasty and Ocean series, safer and smarter for the market.
Second Rishi Dhall, vice president of a multinational technology company, the platform is a huge success with global mobility leaders who have been working on software for a long time. “Our continued partnership with BYD is a testament to the industry’s confidence in DRIVE as the central computer for today’s and tomorrow’s smart cars,” said the executive.
Both NVIDIA and BYD believe that the cars of the future will be programmable, moving from embedded controllers to high-performance centralized computers. This will provide and extend the functionality of the vehicle through software updates throughout its life.
DRIVE Orin’s processing power is critical to real-time handling of a variety of sensors, giving manufacturers the flexibility they need to develop and support new software services while in-vehicle use.
With the ability to perform up to 254 trillion operations per second, this platform is able to provide the necessary power to support AI-equipped cockpits as well as automated launch functions. According to NVDIA, running multiple deep neural networks at the same time ensures maximum security and reliability.
BYD has not only chosen NVIDIA DRIVE Orin to integrate its electric vehicle fleet, but most recently announced a partnership with the company to improve the user experience in its vehicles by offering the NVIDIA GeForce NOW™ cloud gaming service.
By February 2023, the manufacturer has sold more than 3.7 million electric vehicles worldwide and wants to provide consumers with enhanced mobility options through the partnership.
