Apparently, in anticipation of another price increase due to the growth of foreign exchange and the tireless greed of sellers, the Russians literally pounced on the remnants of the secondary car market. There was a lot of upheaval in the crossover and SUV segment. The AvtoVzglyad portal found out which SUVs buyers are so frantically chasing.

According to the results of the first quarter of 2023, the secondary market showed a positive sales trend. As analysts from the Avito Avto site told the AvtoVzglyad portal, used cars in Russia began to distribute 30.5% more efficiently in the period from January to March. Crossovers and SUVs are especially in demand, their average price increased by 12.1% and exceeded 1,300,000 rubles.

“The share of crossovers and SUVs remains consistently high in the Russian used car market, growing quarter after quarter. The regions with a high share of sales in the SUV segment were Moscow and the Moscow region (the metropolitan area accounted for 20.1% of total sales of crossovers and SUVs in Russia), St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region ( 6.9%), as well as Krasnodar Territory (5.2%),” experts from the Avito Auto platform shared data with the AvtoVzglyad portal.

SUVs account for nearly 24% of the used car sector. In comparison, from October to December last year, this figure did not exceed 18%. What kind of cars are our compatriots actively buying?

The unsinkable Toyota topped the top five most desirable brands in the SUV segment – the Japanese brand accounted for just under 10% of used vehicle sales (average bill – ₽2,300,000). In second place is LADA with the Niva family, taking 8.7% of the “pie”. On average, “Niva” on the “secondary” are traded for 345,000 “wooden”. Hyundai closes the TOP-3 with an 8.5 percent share of the segment and an average cost of ₽ 1,700,000. The fourth and fifth places in the ranking of most went to Nissan (7.2%) and BMW with an indicator of 6.6%.

If we talk about the models that are most actively bought by Russians, then the Niva won the palm with an average price tag of 270,000 rubles. The LADA 4×4 model controlled 7% of the secondary auto sector. Almost twice – 4.3% – gave her a share in the related Chevrolet Niva, which is offered on average for 390,000 rubles. And the TOP-3 of the most popular SUV representatives is crowned by the Korean Kia Sportage, which accounted for 3.9%, and the average cost was set at about 1,390,000 rubles.

Next in popularity to our brother is the Toyota RAV4 crossover – 3% of total “second-hand” sales. The average price of a car is 1,800,000 domestic banknotes. The top five most profitable models in the segment are complemented by the German VW Tiguan with a share of 2.8% and an average cost of 1,500,000 rubles.

The top 10 most popular crossovers and SUVs include Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail, Hyundai Santa Fe, BMW X5 and Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, among others. By the way, the latter turned out to be the most expensive in terms of average price – 2,800,000 rubles. While the obscenely premium BMW X5 is offered for no more than 2,225,000.
