Renault launches electric taxi service in Curitiba; car with autonomy up to 300 km

A Renaultin partnership with mobilizesubsidiary of the French automotive concern, Agency Brazilian V Development industrial (ABDI) And Urbanization V Curitiba C/A (URBS), officially launched an electric taxi in Curitiba. The program has already been approved last week and presented its first car presented at an event in the capital of Parana: Zoe E-Tech.

The car in question, which will be acquired by ABDI, is a small car with a range of up to 300 km, the car’s engine has a power of 135 horsepower and a torque of 25 kgf / m. The service will operate similarly to conventional taxis and will be operated by a subsidiary of the brand, with drivers selected by URBS.

The manufacturer already had a strong presence in Paraná since, in addition to the technology center in São José dos Pinhais, in the Curitiba metropolitan area, it offered an electric vehicle sharing system called Mobilize Share, supported by Parana Power Company (kopel). In addition, Renault is also facilitating the installation of charging stations for this type of vehicle in the capital.

Charging stations installed in the city

In partnership with Copel, two fast charging stations were installed in the city, one in the parking lot of Afonso Pena International Airport and the other in the showroom of the Globo dealership owned by the brand.

The initiative is part of Renault’s efforts to make electric vehicles more accessible to the public. The company recently introduced a discount program of up to 17,000 reais for those who want to purchase one of its electrified vehicles, such as Kwid E-Tech And kangubesides Zoe E-Tech herself.

The introduction of this type of vehicle is a growing trend in Brazil, as over the years the federal government has encouraged supportive policies in favor of sustainability. A survey by consulting firm Kearney at the request of General Motors indicates that the country should have 5.5 million streetcars in circulation by 2035, a figure that could increase in line with international traffic in the area.
