Why every driver should carry a cut-out piece of board
Sometimes things that are absolutely useless in everyday life are indispensable in the car. One is a short shelf that fits easily in the trunk of a car. The AvtoVzglyad portal tells how a simple piece of wood can help in difficult situations.

Such a “gadget” is useful, for example, to properly install the jack if there is a flat tire on the way. According to the law of meanness, the ground under your feet turns out to be loose and begins to sag under the regular “lift” due to the heaviness of the car. This increases the risk of the machine accidentally falling off the stop. A simple wooden plank easily solves the problem and multiplies the stability of the whole structure.

Another situation, also associated with the jacking of the “iron horse”: if the mechanism is installed incorrectly, then during operation it is possible to damage the seat on the body or even break the plastic threshold. And when the car is used, another misfortune appears: the metal in the same seats weakens over time from stress. And then it begins to rust, if, for example, tire fitters damaged the protective mastic. In the worst case, rust can “eat up” the body to the holes.

To preserve the factory coating as long as possible and avoid “crash” thresholds, experienced helmsmen placed a piece of wood on the jack-up platform. The solution is really effective, but with a catch. A thin board in this case is useless, and a thick board takes up 2-3 centimeters in height. However, there is a way out – you can dig the soil under the wheel so that it hangs out, and only then proceed with the replacement.

We continue to share driving lessons – the board is also used as a simple sand truck. This allows you to pull the car out of the mud when one of the tires is clogged with clay and starts to slip. It is enough just to put it under the steering wheel so that at least some kind of support appears, and then the car will do everything itself.

Well, if you are seriously stuck, use your own ingenuity and experience. The piece of wood is sawn into two parts, and then the halves are attached to the driving wheels – they turn out something like off-road “bracelets”. As a result, the contact area of the tires with the surface increases and the car can move forward. Those are just such “bast shoes” that must be removed immediately when they escape from sticky captivity. Driving with them, even on a primer, is uncomfortable and dangerous: the ropes are not resistant and break.

Finally, the wood also comes off as a stop for one of the wheels so that the car does not roll down. But this is obvious to most helmsmen in our opinion.
