At the end of March, the Toyota production site became the property of FSUE NAMI and then it was bought by the institute’s subsidiary, Shushary-Avto. Now it has become known that the Obukhov plant, which is part of the Almaz-Antey concern, will lead the enterprise. St. Petersburg will start production of trucks and electric vehicles.

The official statement of concerns says the site in the northern capital, formerly owned by Toyota, will return to work next year. Then the SKD will begin (most likely) assembly of the BAZ-S36A11 civilian truck. We recall that this is a joint development of the Obukhov Plant and the Bryansk Automobile Plant – it was presented in April (the AvtoVzglyad portal spoke in detail about the domestic novelty here).

And two years later, that is, in 2026, the enterprise will start production of E-Neva electric vehicles, as the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov announced in mid-April. However, before production is “shaken up” by some other “electric trains”, third-party brand cars. But what exactly is still unknown. It is possible that the St. Petersburg plant will again “train” on the “Chinese”.

Recall that Toyota announced the closure of its Russian factory last fall. According to Vedomosti, through this whole story, the Japanese have lost about $ 650 million – this is the amount estimated for the cost of compensation for workers who left, as well as the greatly reduced value of assets.
