When a coin is tossed, it causes a slight wobble, making it more likely to land on the same side as it originally did, according to a team led by American mathematician Percy Diaconis.

Based on the throws analyzed, Diakonis found that coins landed on the side they were thrown about 51% of the time. In a new experiment, 48 participants tossed 350,757 coins in 46 different currencies and found that the overall probability of the coin landing on the side it was tossed was 50.8 percent.
