Changing the clock: independently or not

Fortunately, in most cases you don’t need to do anything yourself. Modern smartphones, tablets and computers usually automatically synchronize with the network and switch to the new time without your intervention. However, even if there is no internet access, the transition to summer and winter time is still predicted in the software.

To make sure your device will change the time automatically, follow a few simple steps to set up automatic change:

Android:

• Go to settings.
• Find the menu responsible for date and time. In some views, this menu may be located only in the main list, while in others it is hidden in sections such as “Advanced Settings”. To speed up the process, you can use the search by entering the word “Time” or “Date”.
• Make sure the switches next to “Use network time” (or “Set time automatically”) and “Automatic time zone” (or “Set time zone automatically”) are enabled.
• If your smartphone does not connect to the internet, you can determine the time zone based on your location using GPS or manually select the time zone you want.

iOS:

• Open Settings – General – Date & time.
• Turn on Set Automatically. iPhone gets the accurate time over the cellular network and updates the time based on your current time zone. iPhone cannot automatically determine the local time in certain countries or regions because some networks do not support network time.

Windows:

• Right-click the clock on the taskbar.
• Select Set date and time.
• Go to the Date and Time tab
• Select Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically. However, this only applies to computers connected to the Internet.
• If not, vice versa, remove these two parameters and set your timezone below. The system will automatically transfer the time because it says in its code which countries transfer the time and which do not.

When you need to do this manually

Some older phone models (usually with buttons) cannot convert time automatically. In such cases you will have to do this manually. To do this, go to the phone settings and select the appropriate time setting menu. Enter the new time and save the changes.

Unfortunately, in the era of push-button phones, each manufacturer had its own operating system, so there was no unified interface and name system. But as a rule, such settings are basic and not too stored in the menu.

Time change in Ukraine in 2024

When will clocks switch to summer time in 2024? It will happen a few days later, at 3 a.m. on March 31. The clocks were moved forward 1 hour compared to winter time.
