Last week a French scientist Etienne Klein wrote an apology for the fake post late last month on his official Twitter account. Through a social network, the researcher showed that the spatial object was just a piece of salami on a black background and that it’s all a joke.

One of his followers wrote: “The joke is funny. But when you publish it, it becomes huge! Your name provides a guarantee, so you do not need to verify the information, ”wrote one user.

Despite the joke, the director of the Commissariat for Atomic Energy and Alternative Energy in France said that the published photo had another purpose: to warn people about the false images circulating on social networks. “I came to apologize to everyone who could be offended by my unoriginal mistake. Let’s learn to be careful with the arguments of authorities, as well as with the spontaneous eloquence of certain images.published by Klein.

It is important to note that Proxima Centauri does exist, but due to its small size, the star cannot be seen with the naked eye. Keeping in mind that to verify the accuracy of the captured images, it is enough to check the information on the official platforms of NASA, ESA and CSA.
