The mummies are between 600 and 800 years old, according to Agence France-Presse. It comes from the ancient Inca civilization, possibly from the eastern region of Puno, a region in the Peruvian Andes about 1,300 kilometers southeast of Lima. The body was wrapped in bandages in a fetal position.

According to the person detained, The mummy was in his family’s possession for nearly 30 years.. They even gave her a name – Juanita. She denied trying to sell it, saying she only carried the body because she “wanted to see her friends.”

The mummy is currently in the possession of the Ministry of Culture. There they examined him and told Julio the shocking news.

There is no information on whether the man will receive any punishment.
