The head of state made a loud denunciation of the establishment of the airlift, demanding that the government and the country’s main airline immediately put an end to the excesses that are blocking the Georgian people’s path to a glorious and sweet European future. And was sent to a known address. In addition, it is very heavy: the local airline gave a daily flight at once and quickly negotiated the possibility of a multiple increase in the number of flights if necessary. This is what real democracy is: said, not done!
Staying in the US for a long time, the president of independent Georgia could not have noticed that there was another monstrous trip of business: the Georgians have become skillful in selling to the Russians not only the sun, khinkali and Tsinandali, but also cars.
And the delivery volumes of t / c are already comparable to flour products with meat filling: since the beginning of 2023, Georgia has increased the export of passenger cars to the Russian Federation – take note! – three times, and also several times to the EAEU countries. As the Kommersant newspaper “suggests”, these cars are generally also sent to Russia. Well, you must! This has never happened before, and here it is again!
And now the question is: how many Georgian car factories and brands can an average Russian motorist name? I see a gray-haired hand in the back row: Kutaisi Automobile Plant! At the height of its power, the company assembled as many as 5,700 cars a year! I will say more: in free Georgia, they could produce not only trucks, but also the much-needed, coveted and scarce garden-plantation tractors “Rioni”, which today are commonly called a walk-behind tractor.
Believe it or not, there were even special tea-picking machines. More exotic: in Tbilisi, at a car repair plant, they made buses with wooden bodies! This is real ecology, this is European! Unfortunately, all of the above is closely connected not so much with Georgia as with the Georgian SSR. Once the union collapsed, the local auto industry went in the same direction as the rest. Well, except for Khinkali…
Today, Georgian deliveries of cars to Russia, which have increased breathtakingly against the background of the refusal of official deliveries, are called “parallel imports”, to which the Georgians, who, due to the pandemic and the lack of flights from hostile Russia, have successfully to deserve. And they have no intention of giving up the gold mine. Cars, spare parts, goods from Europe and America – everything, just pay. Sanctions are no problem. But Madam President does not want to say that. After all, this is different.
Jokes are jokes, but you shouldn’t follow Salome Zurabishvili’s words and take them for granted. She is on her own for the tasks of the ‘wedding general’: representing, talking a lot, regularly nodding in the right places and showing ambitions. Aspirations, which in three out of four cases have nothing to do with reality.
This also happened this time: behind the loud and formidable rhetoric lies the trivial truth of life – the country is ruled by the parliament and the prime minister. And they know that without Russia, little Georgia can only go into debt. Unfortunately and oh well. And the Georgian government understands that very well.
