Regularly published rankings of insurance companies have always helped to assess the size of their profits from the sale of mandatory “auto-citizen” policies. The new figures show that their incomes have skyrocketed since the start of the CBO, while the level of benefits to motorists has not changed much.
In the first three months of 2023, insurance company reimbursements under OSAGO have increased significantly compared to the same period last year. In the first quarter, they collected 71.1 billion rubles from car owners, which is 28% more than in 2022 (55.6 billion rubles). And payments at the same time grew by only 3% – from 38.3 billion in the first quarter of 2022 to 39.3 billion rubles in January-March 2023.
Again, the insurers operated on the principle: “for whom is the war, and for whom is the mother dear.” In general, in the market for the first quarter of 2023, they returned only 55% of the amount collected from them to motorists as compensation for accidental damage. Since, according to the results of the first three months of 2022, this figure was at the level of 69%.
The most greedy company in the OSAGO market in early 2023 was Tinkoff Insurance. She returned as compensation for damages to victims of road accidents only 32% of the amount collected from drivers – 880 million rubles out of 2.75 billion received.
The non-honorable second place in the anti-rating is taken by a small insurer “Pari” with payments amounting to 34% of those received: he collected 74 million rubles and gave only 25 million.
The third line is from an agency called Euroins, with 38% of the money being returned to motorists in the form of compensation under OSAGO. Fees for the first quarter amounted to 320 million rubles, and payments – 122 million rubles.
In fourth place in terms of greed is another relatively small company called “Twenty-First Century” – with payments amounting to 42% of the amounts collected (155 million rubles against 380 million rubles in revenue).
“Sberbank insurance” was only fifth with 43% in terms of the ratio of payments to fees. But on the other hand, this organization, like the leader of the presented anti-rating, takes the scale of the amounts still in its pocket: 1.14 billion rubles were received, 491 million rubles were paid out.
Characteristically, the “Russian Union of Auto Insurers” chose “modestly” not to publish blatant quarterly statistics illustrating the extent of insurance company parasitism on millions of Russian car owners with the help of OSAGO. The data was discovered and systematized by ASN.
