Since the share of the “Chinese” who flooded the impoverished domestic market has already exceeded 45% and continues to grow rapidly, let’s start with the “heavenly” crossovers. And although the model lines of brands from China are full of variety, unfortunately there are not so many SUVs worth a maximum of two “lyams” in the same lines. And then there are dealers who are extremely reluctant to release cars in the “drum” trim levels, telling stories of their absence from warehouses.
CHINESE VARIETY
Nevertheless, budget crossovers made in China are on sale. And the most affordable option today is the BAIC X35 – the youngest SUV in a series of new “heavenly” brands for Russia. The price is 1.7 million rubles. A little more – namely 1,760,000 rubles – will have to pay for the FAW Besturn X40. True, it’s worth reminding: this model was taken off the line in the spring, and car dealers have been selling the remnants lying around since 2021.
If you want something completely new, take a closer look at the Livan X3 Pro (₽ 1,880,000). Does the “Lifan” confuse flair? Add 20,000 “wood” and go for Haval Jolion. Although not everything is so simple with him: the AvtoVzglyad portal, which regularly visits dealers, has repeatedly written that finding this crossover in the simplest version is more difficult than a needle in a haystack. Well, to stand out from the crowd, if the soul needs it, it will not work with such a car either.
The latest “Chinese” version is Changan CS35 Plus, a pre-reform version of the model for 1,990,000. Restyling, unfortunately, already falls out for “two”. Like all other “heavenly” SUVs, including Geely Coolray and Chery Tiggo 4/Tiggo 4 Pro. Although if you are ready to trade in an old car and get a loan, the sellers will lower the price of these SUVs by several tens of thousands, and then meet them.

For 2 million rubles you can take the domestic LADA Niva Legend and Travel, as well as UAZ “Patriot”. But since we’re only talking about city SUVs in this review, not SUVs, we won’t dwell on it. But we will pay attention to Moskvich, because in his model line there is a crossover with the index “3”, which meets our main requirement. A car produced in 2022 can be bought for 1,970,000 rubles, and in 2023 for 1,992,000.
RESIDUES ARE SWEET
In addition to Chinese and Russian, there are other, European and Asian options – the sweet remnants of “official” imports. Let’s tell a story: there are very few budget cars of brands left in dealer warehouses in Russia. And most of them are in the regions. So you may have to go on an unplanned trip. In addition, such machines may have warranty issues – this issue should be discussed with the seller.

The retailers who previously worked with Renault offer Kaptur crossovers at a price of 1,950,000 rubles, and those with Kia offer Seltos and Soul (from 1,970,000 and 1,990,000 “wooden ones”, respectively).
