AVTOVAZ has resumed production of LADA Granta cars without airbags. It is possible that Vesta will experience a similar hardship later; Western sanctions are the cause of this.
As the Avtograd News community reports on the social network VKontakte, the automotive giant Tolyatti has restarted the production of LADA Granta cars without airbags due to a shortage of components. In order not to stop the conveyor belt, a similar decision may have to be made regarding Vesta family cars, insiders note.
“Simplified” versions of the Granta model were produced on June 6, 2022 – they did not have airbags, the ERA-GLONASS emergency warning system or ABS and ESP driving assistants. Later, the airbags finally returned, but now they are in short supply again.
First Vice President for Strategy and Technical Development of AVTOVAZ Evgeny Shmelev explained at a conference in St. Petersburg that the company’s management simply did not have time to prepare for the sanctions imposed on the plant by the United States.
