As Izvestia reports, the Central Bank has set tariffs for OSGOP for taxis – the presence of such insurance will become mandatory from September 1, 2024. The minimum rate for the risk of damage to a passenger’s health is 0.0471023338% of the amount for this type of insurance (2,000,000 rubles) for one car – about 940 rubles. And the upper limit is set at 0.1884093353% of the sum insured (3,770 rubles).
It is curious that the air transport tariff is a little more than 1 ruble per passenger (0.0000512257% of 2,000,000 rubles) for an airplane and about 7 rubles for a helicopter (0.0003392636%). Insurance for traveling by bus costs 13 kopecks per passenger in the suburbs (0.0000067343%) and 10 kopecks in the city (0.0000052306%). The minimum cost of an OSGOP policy for a taxi is 1,300 rubles per year, the maximum – 5,400.
“The introduction of mandatory insurance will increase the financial security of passengers: compensation for health damage during transportation will be accrued within a limit of 2 million rubles,” the Bank of Russia said.
At the same time, the Vice President of the National Automobile Union, Anton Shaparin, believes that “OSGOP is the imaginary concern of insurers for passengers”, and that compensation concerns only health damage, which cannot be covered under compulsory health insurance. “OSGOP policies will suffer the same fate as MTPL – taxi drivers simply will not eliminate them,” Shaparin is sure.
