It seems that everyone, except Russian officials and entrepreneurs, who are forced to dance to their tune, knows that the “business” of electric cars is a story that is leading the entire global auto industry to a dead end. Overseas, Ford has already announced that it will cut electric car production by 50% at once next year, and GM is abandoning plans to produce new electric car models, including the announced Chevrolet Equinox and Silverado. And only in our country do they continue to actively invest in the future of the electric car. Why did the portal “AvtoVzglyad” try to find out, after visiting the Lipetsk factory where Chinese Dongfeng electric cars are assembled with screwdrivers, but under the Russian brand “Evolut”.
The whole world has become convinced that ‘electric trains’ are not only much more expensive than cars with traditional combustion engines and also much more expensive to operate than the latter. The warehouses of American car dealers are so overcrowded that they are already officially asking the country’s government to reduce the quota for the sale of these ‘green’ carts. Demand for it is also falling in Europe, and in Japan after the nuclear power plant accident there are simply no more machines – there is nothing to “feed”.
Moreover, the world has become convinced that ‘green’ vehicles are not so ‘green’ after all. And it’s not even true that electricity on a global scale is still produced in most cases by burning hydrocarbons. Suffice it to mention the already known fact that the infamous Tesla Model 3 emits much more carbon dioxide per kilometer driven than some of its diesel counterparts. In short, the story with ‘electric cars’ is downright sad. However, let us repeat that for some reason it is actively developed in our country.
Electric Moskvichi and LADA, the Atom startup, and of course the leader in the production of electric vehicles in the Russian Federation – Lipetsk Motorinvest with its Evolute line. At the same time, no one here is concerned that sales of new electric cars will account for just over one (1) percent of total car sales in the coming year. That is, there is no demand for them, despite all attempts by the authorities to sell them to all kinds of structures through stealth or deception.
Although – just a minute! Why don’t they care? In the same Lipetsk they already realized that they are unlikely to make a lot of money on “electricity”, and next year they will delight us with a whole scattering of the same Dongfeng with the usual internal combustion engines. And here, perhaps, lies the answer to the question: why did the same “Motorinvest” start electric cars in the first place?
Isn’t it to “get on” an Eastern partner as quickly as possible, albeit initially with a failed project, and then continue cooperation with him on a completely understandable and much more profitable topic? However, you can learn more about this in the next episode of the AutoVzglyad portal podcast, which you will find Here.
