Thailand is ready to supply consumables and spare parts for cars to the Russian market. This was announced by the country’s ambassador to the Russian Federation, Sasivat Wongsinsawat. What can the Thai industry offer Russian motorists? The AutoVzglyad portal details and points out issues.

An ordinary citizen associates Thailand with a resort. However, there is also quite a powerful car cluster in the country. Its history began in 1960, when the government began an import substitution policy to boost local production. So, in 1961, the first joint venture between Ford and Thai Motor Industry Co. appeared, which established the assembly of Fords. Now there are more than 15 car factories here, producing various models of BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Isuzu and Mitsubishi.

Gradually, manufacturers of spare parts also attracted. Let’s say that Bosch Automotive has been operating in the country since 1996. They make car lamps, various filters (air, cabin and fuel), spark plugs. And in 2017, we built an enterprise for the production of fuel systems. That is, nozzles can also enter the Russian market. It should be noted that large capacities are located in the industrial area of Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate, Chonburi Province.

Another prominent brand – ZF also has solid assets in the country. For example, various security systems, steering parts, suspensions and braking mechanisms are mounted here. For example, we can get steering racks and rods for various models of Mitsubishi, Ford and Toyota.

Thai Ambassador Sasivat Wongsinsawat noted that he expects detailed lists and information on the number of deliveries from our companies. According to him, goods such as various filters, rubber parts and car accessories are already ready for export to Russia.

However, there is a catch in this barrel of honey. Some social media users who have already ordered spare parts from the “resort” country write that products such as pipes, drive belts and timing belts, as well as oil seals, often brown in the cold with all the associated problems. Problematic consumables were labeled “Applicable to product in Thailand only”, meaning only for use in the Thai market. By the way, the spare parts were intended for the new generation of Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the L200 pickup. We hope that with the start of centralized deliveries there will be no more such problems.
