New Year’s excitement: some used foreign cars are flying like hot cakes in Russia
You don’t have to be a car expert to understand: from 2023 car prices will rise again! And both new and used. And the sellers wanted to spit on President Putin’s order to prohibit the increase in the cost of those same cars. That is why people decided not to wait for the next price increase, rushing en masse even after worldly foreign cars.

If earlier, before the New Year, dealers regularly gave sharp discounts on cars, and resellers matched them, but now every month, if not a day, car prices are rising indecently. Even despite the “dead” season, which surprisingly revived. And all “thanks” to the fact that the people, who broke the last piggy banks and borrowed from mobilized neighbors, rushed en masse to the “wheels”. The reason is simple and has already been mentioned above – from next year, the price tags for car products will skyrocket again. And no longer to heaven, but straight into space.

No one in our country regulates pricing on the car market anymore. Dealers and traders post any price lists on their cars. After all, Putin only instructed the government to control the cost of cars, but did not threaten, as, for example, the Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko did. The Old Man obliged the sellers to agree prices with the authorities, and for their unauthorized increase he introduced liability, which carries a penalty of both the ruble and imprisonment. This is probably why our compatriots went in caravans to collect cars from their neighbors.

However, for the new year, we also have a sluggish market, as mentioned, semi-rising. And if people do not line up for new cars, because the lion’s share of the population simply does not have money, then on the “secondary” they buy everything that is not nailed down.

According to Avito Auto analysts, the used car market in Russia has grown by almost 15% compared to the beginning of 2022. Up 32.2% and supply. Thus, the Japanese Toyota became the leader among foreign brands, the models of which occupied almost 8% in the used car segment. The average price for brand crafts from the Land of the Rising Sun was 1,190,000 rubles.

“Koreans” also excelled: Hyundai and Kia each accounted for 5.6% in the “used” sales sector. On average, models of these brands are bought for 980,000 and 1,200,000 rubles, respectively. But German Volkswagen products are sold on the “secondary” with an average cost of 870,000 “wooden”. The brand used just over 5% of the total number of proposals.

If we talk about models separately, then the American Ford Focus turned out to be the most popular with a 2.1% share of the used car structure. The Korean Hyundai Solaris “bit” 1.6% of the “pie”, its cousin in the face of the Kia Rio – 1.5%, and the Japanese sedan with a claim to the business class, called the Toyota Camry – 1 .4%.

There is no doubt: if businessmen and those who call themselves that do not drop the price tags, next year even the secondary car market in Russia will reach a prolonged peak.
