Windshield polishing: a cheap solution to problems or another scam
The desire for fiction is cunning, and the current circumstances only increase ingenuity and quick wit. Gone are the days when you could just change the windshield for a few thousand rubles: nowadays this is a rather sensitive procedure for the wallet. Therefore, without further ado, people start looking for ways to fix. And how to repair a worn out “lobash”? Polish! But this procedure has a downside, which the AvtoVzglyad portal talks about.

A few years ago, when the grass was greener and the sun brighter, even repairing cracks in the windshield was considered almost insignificant by a large number of Russian motorists. Really, well, collect and switch, be like a man! Understanding could only be achieved by owners of expensive heated windows and various highly intelligent applications, for whom such an operation is comparable to buying a used car.

However, then everything changed: firstly, cheap Chinese glasses did not perform well, so the repair of the original “lobash” no longer resembled such a “greedy” decision, and secondly, the sprouts of the universal shortage broke through. And even the once affordable “heavenly” products, focused on some models, simply disappeared from sale. So people began to repair “plywood” en masse.

With a crack and a chip, everything is more or less clear. Even with a special composition, even with simple glue, even with the master, even alone in the garden. Much has been said about that – no point in repeating it. But what to do with worn, stone-cut glass? Nothing can be seen through it, the wipers barely get through ditches and ravines, dirt can only be washed away under pressure. Has to change? They were not attacked! Let’s polish, period. The budget service – from 2000 rubles – proved to be wildly popular and soon became widely available. Grinding, a set of nozzles and chemistry – open an enterprise in any garage.

At first glance, it’s brilliant. We just remove the top layer, leaving absolutely even and transparent glass – cheap and cheerful. However, in practice, this approach will only lead to a temporary improvement in the situation: depriving the plywood of the top, most durable and resistant to external influences coating, the car owner will get a very soft “lobash” that literally rubs off inside a month. In addition, such glass is no longer resistant to stones and nails, which are rich in Russian roadsides.

The conclusion is simple: grinding and “restoring” the windshield is another “outsider” method that allows you to solve the problem only for a while. The buyer will see the perfect plywood, but after a few weeks it will rub off and become opaque, unless, of course, it has time to crack from an arrived pebble. As for polishing “for yourself”, then it is absolutely not worth doing such an operation – this is wasted money, which is more logical and wise to put aside for a new “lobash”.
