Russian car dealers switch en masse to ‘Chinese’

Russian dealers are increasingly cooperating with Chinese car manufacturers. However, which is not at all surprising, given the situation in the domestic car market. So, over the past year, almost 500 new “heavenly” car dealerships have opened in the country, and their total number is more than a thousand.

According to the results of the survey conducted by Otkritie Avto and AutoBusinessReview, there are currently 1,041 car dealerships in Russia offering cars of the Chinese brand to customers. At the beginning of last year there were 712: 158 sites were “addicted” to the official dealer networks for one reason or another and 487 were added. It is likely that the number of “heavenly” outlets will continue to grow, because retailers have nothing to trade.

Note that Omoda, a new Chinese brand that is a sub-brand of Chery, became the leader in the number of open car dealerships in Russia last year. She, which appeared on the market in the second half of 2022, managed to build a network of 108 points.

But Haval was ahead of the game when it comes to “productivity”: on average, the sites sold 285 cars in 12 months. However, this is still not enough. According to experts, for a “comfortable” life, a car dealer must sell 1,000 cars a year.

Let’s add that there are 3139 dealer centers in Russia. That is, Chinese brands already account for a third.
