The Russian used car market started to decline even before the events of February last year. The last month the “secondary” closed in positive territory was September 2021. Since then, almost a year and a half – a permanent minus. But it looks like the segment is finally starting to pick up.
For example, according to the Avtostat analysis agency, Russians bought 361,100 used cars in the first month of the new year, which is 7% more than in January 2022. Half of all sales come from five brands. And the leader is still LADA, whose share has reached 22% of the market. 79,400 people chose used cars with a tower on the radiator grill.
Second place (share – 12%) went to Toyota: 42,900 Russians got “Japanese” with mileage. The third and fourth positions belong to the Koreans: Hyundai cars appeared in 20,700 sales contracts, and Kia – in 20,400. Nissan closes out the top five – 18,300 cars sold. We also note that Volkswagen, Chevrolet, Renault, Ford and Honda were in the top ten – they all have more than 10,000 units.
By the way, earlier the AvtoVzglyad portal told which cars in the Russian “secondary market” are most often sold broken after an accident. You can find it here.
