Treachery of the Year: The dismal results of the Russian authorities’ indifference to the country’s car life

The outgoing year was perhaps the most unlucky in the history of the Russian auto industry. Domestic manufacturers, forgetting how to make cars on their own, flew into the abyss. Of course, the car market also collapsed. However, against the background of these very sad events in the car life of the country, there were also quite positive ones. And more about what happened in 2022 and what to expect from 2023 – in the video review of the AvtoVzglyad portal.

As we approach 2022, few would have imagined that our lives would change so dramatically in the coming months. In any case, remember what happened in the auto industry in January: factories that produced cars boasted of 2021 results and made plans to increase volumes, exacerbating the impact of the “corona crisis”. The shortage of some auto parts – the same semiconductors – was still observed, but the predictions sounded good.

And what was there in the car market! Brands promised many different premieres in 2022. To be honest, most of these premieres did take place, but not with us. Many foreign brands have suspended their operations in Russia, and some have even managed to sell their local assets to local businessmen. In particular, Renault, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Mazda, Ford. And this is just the beginning. Other deals are likely to close next year.

Even, probably, it’s a good thing there wasn’t so much “social” car news last year. The main events were the introduction of criminal sanctions and the confiscation of cars for gross violations of traffic rules for the “underprivileged”; adaptation of the traffic rules, including the concept of individual means of mobility, a number of new signs and markings; expansion of the OSAGO fare corridor and the opening of several sections of the M12 Moscow-Kazan megaroute.

And more about this and other main events of the outgoing year – in the video summary of the AvtoVzglyad portal, which can be viewed here. And by the way, our observers not only listed the results of 2022, but also provided forecasts for 2023. Therefore, watching the video – to know what to prepare for in the coming months – is definitely worth it.
